So yeah, I haven't posted in a little bit, and that's my fault for getting behind because of testing...so I'm going to combine last week's two classes into one blog (techie blog to come).
I thought that the class on costume design was pretty interesting. I knew a lot of the things she had talked about, since I did some tech work/had to find costumes for myself for some of the shows I was in in high school. But, there were a few things that I had not previously really considered as being a part of costumes, such as the research that is involved in making the piece as a whole coherent and convey meaning - asking "why are they wearing this?" Another new thing was the costume spreadsheet , which was interesting from my point of view because my high school drama program didn't do that - we were just expected to know what to put on, and costumes crew was more of a pre-show type crew that disappeared when the show went up. So that was a pretty cool new idea.
Wednesday's class was also really cool; I like listening to designers talk about the production and what they have done. I think it's really cool how they have the drop flat that's like a cartoon panel - that should be interesting to see. From a lighting perspective, I thought it was interesting that it's going to be a lot of brightness, and not necessarily any real depth of color, but it does make sense - if they're doing it in a comic book style the sets and the colors of the sets take a greater precedence over the lighting. It'll be cool to see how Superman flies too. I've always wanted to do that...
Sorry about the lack of adjectives...I'm kinda tired.
Also, I plan on seeing Superman this weekend cause I'm here for fall break, although I'm unsure as to which day I should go (in terms of performance). But probably Friday or Saturday.
